Today on my way to the library…a common occurrence in Lancaster County…
Usually there are one or two Amish at the library but today there were at least a dozen. Paradise Park was loaded with Amish too…picnicking and playing softball. I was wondering why so many were out and about rather than working …it’s only Thursday, after all. I found out it’s Ascension Day…the 40th day after Easter and the day they believe Jesus physically ascended into heaven after his resurrection. Apparently it’s a day of rest or visiting. Just read (and saw) many go on large outings for picnics, fishing or softball. They sure were friendly and seemed very happy today.
