Looking Ahead

Our coffee table Christmas morning after all the gifts had been opened and most of the clutter cleared.

In the midst of soaring Covid cases (several touching close to home) and lots of gray and sometimes unseasonably warm weather, the holiday season came and went…rather quickly relative to all the build-up. Along with the many delicious meals, sugary treats, and mind-altering beverages, there were beautiful, heart-warming moments that will now become the memories that provide color and depth to the kaleidoscope of life.

New beginnings: new year, new month, and today -new moon…a really good time to set intentions for what you want to manifest in your life and how you want your life to look in this new moon cycle, month and year.

As many of you know, a big intention of mine for 2022 is to spend more time in Italy. One of my gifts from Brad was the book, Anthony Bourdain Remembered. I was very excited about this gift (although not as excited as I was about the Lauryn Hill t-shirt he gave me!) and had to look through it right away. The first quote of Anthony’s seemed apropro to my intention:

“If I’m an advocate for anything, it’s to move. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean, or simply across the river. Walk in someone else’s shoes or at least eat their food. It’s a plus for everybody.”

I wish you all a happy 2022. May it include walking in other people’s shoes, developing more empathy and compassion for other cultures and those different from ourselves. May we do it with curiosity rather than judgement, with open minds rather than pre-conceived notions. May we enjoy the different cuisines we taste, the new ideas that expand our minds. May we acknowledge the richness these differences bring to our lives and may they fill us with joy.
